Be Involved: Volunteers

Starfish Throwers in Our Community
Volunteers are the foundation of our work at Cumberland Good Samaritans. We
could not operate without them!
There are many kinds of volunteer work. Something for everyone! You can be a
generalist ("Whatever needs to be done!") or a specialist (repair bikes or
match
those little Fisher-Price people with the right playset or prepare donated plastic
bags for use or inspect donated computers)
- The Thrift Store needs many volunteers to sort and price the
donated items, including clothing, holiday merchandise, and household
wares. Some one needs to pick up large donated items like
furniture and appliances.
- The Food Pantry needs many hands to log in food, update files,
stock the shelves and fill food baskets.
- Christmas for Kids needs the young-at-heart to sort and clean donated
toys, sack up gifts, and repair donated bikes.
- Tutoring and mentoring play a large role in our Social
Services.
Future needs: We are in the process of creating a Christian counseling
center and a child enrichment center. We will need qualified workers for both,
as well as many helping hands, big "brothers" and big "sisters", mentors, and
tutors.
Our Appreciation: We do show our appreciation to our volunteers.
- For every 100 volunteer hours, a $25 voucher to the Thrift Store.
- Annual Appreciation Dinner
- Annual Tea Party
- Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners
- Potluck meals throughout the year
