Making a Difference Together
Cumberland Good Samaritans partners with many agencies, organizations,
churches, and
businesses. Together we can truly "make a difference" in our clients lives.
Our partners provide funding, volunteers, food, services, job training and
job opportunities. We work together with them, helping each other to
help others.
In turn we provide services for clients of a number of state and private
agencies and funding for some of our sister agencies.
Area Churches - Cumberland County has around 140 churches. The
majority of these work with CGS in deciding what to do with requests for
assistance. CGS maintains records about assistance from churches. CGS also
partners with churches to obtain funds for unmet needs that reach beyond the
agency's limits for assistance. Many local area churches make regular donations
to CGS.
Local Businesses and Individuals - Many local businesses and
individuals make regular or periodic donations to CGS as well working with us
to provide job training and job opportunities.
Volunteers - Over 100 volunteers donate nearly 20,000 hours of labor
each year to assist CGS in operating its facility and programs.
Government - We work closely with many government
agencies including Tennessee
Department of Human Services (DHS) ,
Families First ,
local courts and police and the health department.
Schools - We partner with local public schools, Roane State
Community College, Tennessee Technology Center, Tennessee Technological
University, and Adult Education to address the education needs of our clients.
Other Agencies - We work with a number of other agencies, including
United Fund of Cumberland County ,
Bread of Life Rescue Shelter, Plateau Pregnancy Services,
TAD (Teens Against Drugs) , Salvation
Army of Cumberland Country, Family Resource Center (FRC)/Families
and Schools Together
(FAST), Avalon Center, and Habitat for Humanity .
