Our Mission

The mission of Cumberland Good Samaritans Inc. is to address the unmet needs of the citizens in Cumberland County by providing temporary emergency assistance and long term solutions through true Christian charity.  Good Samaritans is dedicated to accomplish this mission through a multitude of high impact service programs.

The agency has a thrift store that offers clothing, furniture, appliances, household goods, toys, books and other merchandise; the largest stocked food pantry in the county; a direct services department assisting families with shelter, travel assistance, utilities, rent and limited help with life-sustaining prescription medications; a scholarship program that can assist with books and tuition for younger and older adults desiring to attend the local technological school, local community college, or a Tennessee Board of Regents School; a school supplies program; a social services department that offers counseling to help identify and deal with barriers to self-sufficiency; job training and job placement programs that deal with barriers to employment and self-sufficiency; a Christmas assistance program; and a full network of partnerships with other area agencies, churches, businesses and individuals that together can better address the unmet needs of the people in the community.
